The chat screen (one engineer)

Opened from a card, from Your engineers (Chat), or from Chats.

• The header has Past chats (your earlier, ended chats with this engineer), New chat, and a settings shortcut.
• Type in the box and press Enter to send (Shift+Enter for a new line).
• While the engineer works you see what they're doing ("Running tests…", "Editing …"), folded into "Worked for …" when they reply.
• Stop replaces Send while they're working. It stops the turn, and they reply asking where to pick up.
• Add something while they work. Type while they're working and press Add. Your message is folded into the work in progress, shown as "Added while {name} was working", and they carry on without starting over.
• Repo picker. When your first message clearly needs code and the workspace has more than one repo, the chat asks "Which repo should I work in? Pick one or more." Likely repos are pre-ticked. Press Start, or No repo needed. Only the chosen repos are available in that chat.
• Files an engineer makes (documents, spreadsheets, slides…) appear as download cards.
• New chat starts fresh. The old chat moves to Past chats, and the engineer won't remember it in the new one.

Gotchas:

• If the engineer is at their limit for things at once, you're asked to try again shortly.
• If the workspace has no plan or is out of credits, the engineer says so instead of starting.
• Messages that are clearly abusive are blocked before reaching the engineer (see Guardrails in Troubleshooting).
